Monday was the first Anti-Hunger Alliance Advocacy Day at the Arizona Capitol. Last August, the Anti-Hunger Alliance was formed at the first ever statewide Anti-Hunger Policy Retreat in Carefree. This alliance was formed in an effort to unite all anti-hunger organizations and efforts across Arizona as one common voice. With 1 in 6 kids in Arizona facing hunger, we know hunger is a serious issue that needs a swift and serious solution. Founding members of the Arizona Anti-Hunger Alliance (AzAHA) include Lutheran Advocacy Ministry Arizona (LAMA), Bread for the World, World Hunger Education, Advocacy & Training (WHEAT), Arizona Food Bank Network, Arizona Food Systems Network and Arizona Faith Network. Funding from a Vitalyst Health Foundation SPARK Grant supported the original convening of this group.
